The question "Who am I?" is a profound one, especially in the context of early recovery, where the chaos of crisis can obscure our sense of self. Self-discovery is a core part of rebuilding after living in survival mode for so long. Recovery often involves peeling back layers of pain, habits, or external expectations to uncover who you were meant to be—your authentic self.

Recovery exists in a space of embracing both the uncertainty and the excitement of the process, enjoying the present while still exploring your identity. That’s a powerful place to be! The journey of figuring out "who am I?" isn’t linear, it’s a mix of rediscovering passions, values, and strengths, while letting go of what no longer serves you.

In the early stages of recovery, it can feel disorienting to let go of familiar patterns, even if they were harmful. These patterns often served as coping strategies, and without them, you may feel exposed or uncertain. But in that openness lies opportunity and a chance to rebuild from a place of intention rather than instinct.

What parts of yourself are you rediscovering, or have you already rediscovered in your recovery?
